Firstly I would like to introduce myself as the new Administration Manager forThe Pivot Institute.
Taking on a new position within a company is not always an easy task if the only person who knows how to complete every aspect of the role is the person leaving.
There isn’t always time for a one on one hand over which can cause many problems with tasks not being completed on time or correctly.
So the question is are you ready for a new staff member? Do you think that if one of your most trusted employees were to leave unexpectedly that you could cover that role in the same way?
I was very lucky that I received 2 full days of one on one time with Denise and that she left a booklet of procedures which detailed from start to finish how to complete each task. This has already been a very useful tool to me given that each company works in its own way and has its own policies and procedures.
Asking eachyour staff to create a guide for their role could mean the difference between a smooth hassle free handover and a very time consuming, frustrating and costly experience. These guides should be stored on a shared computer drive or printed and accessible to all staff and updated regularly.
Organisation is the key to success and having well informed team members can help ensure the effective running of your business.
